About Babbinswood Farm
Babbinswood Farm is in North Shropshire. Casha will be the 5th generation in her family to farm at Babbinswood Farm. Casha and her family have taken back the farm in the hope of establishing a local market for the farms produce. In Summer 2017 a small dairy herd was started and we have been producing & selling organic raw milk & yogurt all made here on the farm, sold from our simple farm shop. Our small dairy herd is very unique: We allow the calves to stay with their mothers. We like to think we are sharing the milk, as we only milk the cows once a day allowing the calves to have their fair share. We also believe this has a lot of other fabulous benefits for both the cow & her calf. Our farm has been farmed organically since 2002, we are certified with the Soil Association. All our cattle and sheep are 100% pasture fed. We also sell organic fruit and vegetable boxes, we aim to be able to supply these fully from what we grow on the farm over the next 5 years, but we are just at the beginning of this journey so watch this space, until then we select the best organic produce locally, nationally and further a field, to supply to you. Fair prices for farmers and artisan food producers is vital
We pay our suppliers at least 50% of the retail value for any products we buy in, and when dealing with wholesalers, we check to make sure they pay fair prices to their growers.
The benefits of buying local
Local food supports local economies. Food grown in the local community supports local jobs and encourages variety in our diets. It also requires less transportation, so it's fresher and has a smaller environmental footprint.
