Ara Te Kereru is an organic fruit & flower farm. The Maori name of the farm translates to mean “Path of the Wood Pigeon” The farm lies in the path of the wood pigeon and the Native Wood Pigeon (Kereru) drops seeds of the good fruit it has eaten. The path of the Wood Pigeon therefore is a path of good fruit.
Colin bought this property from his parents in 1982 and with his wife Anna raised their family amongst fruit & flower crops.
“To grow two blades of grass where one grew before” with minimum inputs using sound organic sustainable practices. To establish a mixed orchard, flower vegetable, and herb farm where each crop complements the other. To maximize the returns from land through production of quality product to consumers who value true health and sustainability. We want flexibility and fertility in our land to introduce new products as the market demands so people have an alternative to the chemical dependent products.
