About The Free Company
Understanding the value of community supported agriculture is at the core of our scheme. Locality, seasonality and sustainability is what matters to us. We believe it is most important to buy locally and source produce that is seasonal, organic and that regenerates the landscape it is grown in.
From just 2.5 acres we can grow enough food to fully sustain The Free Company restaurant and give our Veg Club members the pick of the crop.
Fair prices for farmers and artisan food producers is vital
We pay our suppliers at least 50% of the retail value for any products we buy in, and when dealing with wholesalers, we check to make sure they pay fair prices to their growers.
The benefits of buying local
Local food supports local economies. Food grown in the local community supports local jobs and encourages variety in our diets. It also requires less transportation, so it's fresher and has a smaller environmental footprint.
We are a family of plant-based eaters and by joining your club we not only get gorgeous fresh local veg, we also get pushed to try veg we wouldn’t normally buy. We love knowing we're getting organic goodness and supporting a local business!
