Locavore’s Big Plan sets out our ambition to scale up what we do to launch a large social enterprise grocery store which offers a viable alternative to supermarkets. We want our new store to be the sort of place most people can do most of their grocery shopping so that we can increase our market share and use it to shape a food system which is better for society and our environment.
Instead of food profits going to big corporations and their shareholders we want your food spending to work harder for society. That means investing in local growers, paying fair wages (we’re a living wage employer) and developing other initiatives which help build a fairer and more sustainable society.
Locavore Trading aim to help build more sustainable food economies by sourcing sustainable & organic groceries direct from producers in large volumes, and supplying them to progressive independent retailers and caterers who we feel share our values and aspirations for a better food future.
Through Organic North, we are able to access some of Locavore's ethical and organic food for The Paddock's Farm Shop and Delivery Service.
Via Locavore, we are able to stock a full range of very competitively priced organic tinned pulses and tomatoes. The range includes black beans, black eye beans, borlotti beans, butter beans, cannelloni beans, chickpeas, green lentils, green peas, 5 bean mix, red kidney beans, chopped tomatoes, whole tomatoes and passata. Locavore source this whole range directly from Anna, an Italian canner and processor running their family business since 1925. Their philosophy has always been to produce high-quality products that use only the freshest tomatoes and the tastiest pulses.
